ARCHEOLOGY HISTORY & EXCURSIONS
Sardinian archaeology is rich, with many unique sites testifying contacts and influences from Phoenicians, Romans, and Byzantines, reflecting the island's role as a crossroads of Mediterranean cultures. Sardinia’s Nuragic civilization (ca. 1800–200 BCE) has fascinated many people; with over 7,000 nuraghi—megalithic towers of unknown exact function—representing a sophisticated and distinct culture. Archaeological findings, including sacred wells, domus de janas (Houses of the Fairies), tombs of giants, and complex village structures, suggest a highly organized society with religious and communal systems. The island’s archaeological record stands out for its diversity and the enduring mysteries of its prehistoric past.
For our excursions, we’ll collaborate with Insula 360, a boutique local tour operator passionately led by Sardinian archaeologists and marine biologists. Their deep-rooted expertise and love for the island promise an unforgettable journey into Sardinia's rich history, culture, and natural wonders.
